SFCS welcomes Aide and After School Program Instructor Laura Nordass. Ms. Nordaas earned her BA in elementary education from Southwest Minnesota State University. She holds a multiple subject teaching credential and is NCLB compliant. She has worked in the education field for nine years and her classroom for the past six years has been in Yosemite Valley, where she worked as a Field Science Educator for NatureBridge. Ms. Nordaas specializes in place based and inquiry based learning, and is very passionate about teaching sustainable living. She is also experienced in reading group dynamics and teaching team building. She is strong believer in cooperative learning, and feels that the leadership, communication, and conflict management skills that come from successful cooperative learning experiences are invaluable life skills. As a student, she attended Tohoku International School in Sendai, Japan, where she experienced the benefits of being a part of a multi-grade classroom for most of her schooling. She loves languages and is fluent in both Japanese and Spanish. Ms. Nordaas is very excited about Sierra Foothill Charter School's mission and looks forward to being in a classroom setting again.
