Update: Linda VanderKarr of Mariposa saw our request and donated a nearly new waterbed heater! Thank you, Ms. VanderKarr! Ms. Korn is still in need of baby food jars with lids so each student can grow alfalfa, radish and other sprouts for snacks. She has received enough for one classroom and is looking for about 90 more.
SFCS is in search of a used, working water bed heater. Guided by Master Gardeners Archie and Linda Dixon, students could then start seeds in January in soil warmed by the heater to have plants for sale and ripe tomatoes before school's out! Planting early avoids tomato production slowdown during our hottest weather. The Learning Garden also needs baby food jars with lids so students can grow alfalfa, radish, lentil and other sprouts for snacks and salads. Similar small jars are okay, too. To help please call Caroline Korn at 966-6753.
