Here at SFCS, we are turning a big problem with pigs destroying our field into an opportunity to teach and learn. In Service Learning with Ms. Milazzo, the 1st and 2nd grade students are learning about the wild pigs, their food web, invasive species, the biology under the turf, and just how big an earth worm can be! And they have helped put tufts of grass back into place. Principal Garagarza, having come from an urban environment, is learning about problems in rural environments — wild pigs isn't one he saw coming! (None of us did, really.)
