Last week, Ms. Starchman's students learned about Arbor Day, a day “to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.” They discussed why trees are so important. Students then made Arbor Day posters using their favorite medium, whether it was pastels, watercolors, colored pencils, crayons, or markers. Ms. Starchman's students' posters will be displayed in the multipurpose room so that all students can enjoy their beautiful work. Principal Garagarza will decide on the winning third and fourth grade posters. The winners will be sent off to the state competition sponsored by California ReLeaf, CAL FIRE, and the California Community Forests Foundations. Winners of the state competition will receive a $100 check and their poster will be featured at the California State Fair.
