Students spent the month of January focused on the Character Counts! pillar of Citizenship. They have had projects and discussions in their classrooms about what it means to be a good citizen and ways to show it. Last Friday, students who did a stellar job exhibiting the character trait of Citizenship throughout the month were honored at a school assembly. Principal Garagarza also caught up on pulling tickets from the "Caught Being Good" jar. When staff sees students doing something exceptional, they are given tickets to put their name on and stick in the jar. Typically, on Fridays at morning flag salute, a name is pulled and a prize is given. SFCS was a few weeks behind, so multiple names were pulled and prizes given. Mr. G also showed off a donated bicycle that staff has decided to use as the final year's drawing. Students can opt out of the Friday drawings and be entered for this drawing instead. Congratulations to students who were recognized for great citizenship and to all the drawing winners!
