SFCS Board Members

Meet Our Professional, Highly-Qualified Board:

Amber Edwards, Chair, is a 20-year resident and business-owner of Mariposa who graduated from MCHS and chose Child Development for her field of study. She put her education into action as a preschool teacher and as a recruiter/trainer for local child-care providers. Amber also previously worked at SFCS as the Office Manager, but she left to pursue her passion for photography full-time. Her son attends school here and her husband Gabe has volunteered his IT knowledge at SFCS for several years.

Denisha Dawson, Vice Chair, Professor of Chemistry at Merced College; Ph.D. in Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry at U.C. Berkeley; BA in Chemistry at U.C. Santa Cruz; 15 years experience as a community college instructor, as well as one year as a K-12 substitute teacher. Interests in student success and resilience as well as science education

Corinne Dedini, Treasurer, is the Assistant Head of School at One Schoolhouse, a supplemental, online school. Corinne’s work in education is predicated on the belief that today’s schools have a responsibility to prepare tomorrow’s workforce for a future we can only imagine. Corinne also serves on the Board of Directors of Westminster Woods Camp and Conference Center, is a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and is a Mariposa Master Gardener. A California native, she grew up in Napa, attended UCSD, and lives in Catheys Valley with her spouse, Kurt Schnier, who works at UC Merced.

Kathleen Leonard, Secretary, a parent of two SFCS students. Kathy’s professional background includes publishing, marketing, e-commerce, web design, retail, and project management. She’s currently the College, Career & Community Liaison at Mariposa County High School, working with students, faculty, and community members on multiple projects.

Chris Ramirez, Member, was born and raised in the Central Valley until moving to Mariposa with his family in 6th grade.  He attended Mariposa Elementary school, Mariposa Middle School and Mariposa County High School.  Chris has 3 daughters, all of whom attend or have graduated from SFCS.  In addition to being the previous SFCS Board Chair, he also serves on various SFCS committees including Fundraising, Principal Support and Academic Excellence.
